Fushigi Yuugi is a 52-episode TV series, with 2 OVA sets after that that expand the characters. It's defintely in the shoujo anime section, but it's good... it's more realistic than, say, Sailormoon. -_-
Plus, there's a lot of bishounen throughout the series... my favorites are Nuriko, Chichiri, and Tasuki. Those are the ones I would go on forever about, and I've even spent some time trying to get the "laws of Chichiri's speech" right (when do you use "na no da" as opposed to "no da"?), and even crossing over Fushigi Yuugi into my fanfiction. I HEAVILY recommend watching Fushigi Yuugi - but get the subtitled versions if possible. Not only is everyone's speech patterns intact (Chichiri's no da pattern and Tasuki's fiery version of the Kansai dialect of Japan) but the voices are so much better. Especially if you're a fan of Sailormoon SailorStars, because Yaten's voice actress does Nuriko's voice as well. ^_^
Here's some media files I have! Yippee!
"Aoi Jiyuu, Shiroi Nozomi" ("Blue Freedom, White Wish" ~ Chichiri and Tasuki duet)
Tasuki calling Miaka "odango atama"
"I'm okay, no da." "We're NOT OKAY, NO DA!" (Chichiri, then Miaka and Tasuki making fun of his 'no da' in their reply)
